The mother was sentenced to one year and nine months for aggravated manslaughter and drug offenses and has now changed defense attorney from Per Oehme to Emelie Righammar.

The mother wants to be acquitted of all charges and the liability for damages to Esmeralda's brothers. Lawyer Righammar writes in the appeal that the mother "demands, in all circumstances, that the Court of Appeal determines the sentence to a non-custodial sentence or alternatively reduces the length of the prison sentence".

All parties have appealed

The Esmeralda brothers' legal representative Mikaela Åstrand has also appealed the verdict. She wants the Court of Appeal to approve the claim for damages for pain and suffering of SEK 60,000 to the brothers each as it was presented in the district court.
The district court considered that SEK 30,000 was the correct level of damages to the brothers.

Prosecutor Anna Lander has appealed the verdict and wants the Court of Appeal to sentence the mother to a long prison sentence and guilty of murder in the first place, and in the second place causing another person's death and extremely serious assault.
The prosecutor also wants the woman to be convicted of breach of the peace when the girl was kept at home after her death.
