28 August 2020Casamaina in the province of L'Aquila, in Abruzzo is the first red zone in Italy after the lockdown. By order of the mayor of Lucoli, Valter Chiappini, a "red zone" was established in the Abruzzo hamlet "from 00.00 on 28.08.2020 and until 24.00 on 01.09.2020".

In the Municipality there are two outbreaks, one in the hamlet of Casamaina with 10 positives, one of which is hospitalized, and the other in the hamlet of Casavecchia, where there are 2, one in hospital and one in home isolation. Then there are about 40 people in quarantine.

The measures adopted by the mayor are: prohibition of removal from the territory of the Fraction or rather by all individuals present there; prohibition of access to the territory of the village in question; however, the return to home or residence within the Casamaina district of the Municipality of Lucoli is allowed for those who, at the time of entry into force of this ordinance, were outside the area itself; suspension of the activities of public offices, without prejudice to the provision of essential and public utility services; suspension of all production and commercial activities with the exception of basic food stores and activities connected and serving the agri-food and health chain and in any case to activities of strategic interest and of an essential nature (pharmacies, parapharmacies, bakers, feed retailers for animals, fuel distributors for public use, retail trade of optical material, transport activities related to the supply of essential goods and services of existing social and health facilities).

And again suspension of all work sites; closure of public parks, municipal gardens, free-access sports areas, public and private toilets for public use and prohibition of use of the related facilities; suppression of all public transport stops; closure to the public of the municipal cemetery in the hamlet of Casamaina, guaranteeing, in any case, the provision of transport, reception, burial and burial services of the bodies; waste collection and disposal services will in any case be guaranteed.

The mayor Valter Chiappini of nearby Lucoli, for safety, has preferred with a new ordinance to extend the checks to the entire population, with carpet swabs for a hundred people.

"I am worried, but confident - explains the mayor - because the situation is under control. It was a precautionary choice, for a closure of five days and not 14 agreed with the Abruzzo region and the Local Health Authority".   

Overall data in the Region
There are 20 new coronavirus cases ascertained in Abruzzo with tests carried out in the last hours. The currently positives rise to 383: in the hospital there are 39 people, one of whom is in intensive
care, while the other 343 patients are in home isolation. The healed are 2,870. the
death toll is unchanged, 472. And there have been no deaths since last July 28th.

Of the new cases, 11 refer to patients residing or domiciled in the province of L'Aquila, partly relating to the Peligna Valley, four in the Pescara area, one in the Chieti area and four in the Teramo area.
