The Berlin clinic "Charite", which treats Alexei Navalny, said that the Russian was still in a coma. As reported on the website of the medical facility, he is connected to a ventilator.

At the same time, German doctors claim that there is no threat to Navalny's life, but it is not possible to predict the consequences of the poisoning.

“The patient is in the intensive care unit in an artificial coma, artificial lung ventilation is being performed. The patient's health condition remains serious, without any acute threat to his life. It is still impossible to predict the possible long-term consequences of severe poisoning in a patient, ”the press release says.

In addition, the doctors stated that the symptoms of cholinergic crisis caused by cholinesterase inhibition were alleviated.

Against the background of these events, the German authorities called on Russia to clarify the situation with Navalny. According to German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas following the meeting of EU foreign ministers, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation of the incident.

“To some extent, clouds have gathered over our relationship. It is Russia that should make a greater contribution to clarifying the case with Navalny, "- quoted by TASS Maas.

In his opinion, the situation with Navalny shows that Germany, along with the EU, "needs a policy towards Russia based more on principles and interests than before."

Maas indicated that Berlin is awaiting research results, including those concerning the substances with which Navalny was poisoned. He added that a decision will be made based on the results of receiving this data.

“We agreed that within the EU we will continue to coordinate our actions very closely,” he concluded.

At the same time, Reuters cites another statement by Maas, in which the German Foreign Minister allowed the introduction of diplomatic sanctions against Moscow.

“As for Russia's willingness to cooperate in the Navalny case, we will act in the same way as in the case of the murder in the Tiergarten,” Maas said.

We are talking about the murder of Georgian citizen Zelimkhan Khangoshvili in Berlin in 2019. The German side accused Russia of this incident and declared two Russian diplomats persona non grata.

It should be reminded that on August 20, an S7 airline plane performing a flight Tomsk - Moscow made an emergency landing at the Omsk airport. On board was Alexei Navalny, who suddenly became ill during the flight. The man was urgently hospitalized at a local hospital, he was unconscious.

Relatives insisted on the transfer of Navalny to the German clinic "Charite". When the doctors of the Omsk hospital found the patient's condition stable, he was sent to Germany.

After Navalny was transported to Europe, Omsk doctors issued a statement that they had fought for Navalny's life for 44 hours. Doctors indicated that they fought for the blogger's life and were able to stabilize his condition, but later faced widespread criticism of their actions, including from the liberal community and Navalny's supporters.

Subsequently, Doctor of Medical Sciences Leonid Roshal spoke about the professionalism of Omsk doctors.

“The doctors continued to treat for another ten hours, waiting for the German pilots of the plane that had arrived for Navalny to get enough sleep,” Roshal TASS quoted as saying. According to him, there was no urgent need to transfer the patient, for example, to clinics in Moscow.

"Despite the fact that Navalny's condition in Omsk has been stabilized, we suddenly hear from our non-doctors harsh criticism of Navalny's treatment in Omsk," Roshal said.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia asked Germany to provide information on the research and preliminary diagnoses of Alexei Navalny. The department pointed out that Germany has confirmed its intention to interact with Russia in clarifying the circumstances of the incident with Navalny.

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, in turn, expressed its readiness, on the basis of reciprocity, to provide the German side with the results of examinations of the patient conducted in Russia.

The department indicated that there is no evidence of criminal acts committed against Navalny.

“Despite the pre-investigation check started on August 20, any data indicating the commission of deliberate criminal acts against A.A. Navalny. and allowing to qualify this incident under the criminal law, has not yet been established, ”said the official representative of the department Andrei Ivanov on August 27.
