An Iranian has been sentenced to nine years in prison for killing his 14-year-old daughter, Romina Ashrafi, by cutting her head while she was asleep, according to what the girl's mother Rana Dashti announced to an Iranian news agency demanding the execution of her husband.

The victim's mother told the "ISNA" agency, "Despite the judicial authorities’ words about special treatment being undertaken for this case, the court ruling caused panic in me and my family. "
"I want my husband to never return to our village," Rana Dashti added, calling for a review of the sentence and the execution of the perpetrator.
After a marriage lasting more than fifteen years, Dashti feared that her only son was in danger.
The victim had an affair with a young man fifteen years older than her, but her father was refusing to marry them.
She left the house before returning her to it, after the man's father filed a complaint against her.
The perpetrator was sentenced to prison, according to Dashti, who did not give further details about the sentence.
The press information indicated that the girl told the judge after her arrest that she did not want to return to her home because she was afraid for her life.
Iranian law sets the minimum age for marriage at thirteen years for girls.
According to Iranian law, honor killings are punishable only with imprisonment for up to 10 years and "blood money" for members of the victim's family.
The brutal murder prompted Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to call for tougher laws.
