UN Secretary-General Nakamitsu urges early participation in the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty August 27, 10:05

UN Secretary-General Deputy Secretary-General Nakamitsu addressed the international day against nuclear testing and expressed a sense of crisis that the CTBT = Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty adopted by the United Nations has not yet entered into force, and ratifies the treaty. We called for early participation in countries that have not.

An international conference was held on the 29th of this month to coincide with the "International Day Against Nuclear Tests". This was to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. The families of those who participated participated.

“We cannot make any excuse to delay the realization of the universal goal of completely banning nuclear tests.” We must never repeat it," and urged countries that have not ratified the Convention to participate early.

The CTBT has already been ratified by 168 countries including Japan, but of the 44 specific countries required for the treaty to come into effect, 8 countries such as the United States, China and North Korea have not ratified yet.

In addition to North Korea's six-time force over the nuclear test from 2006 to 2017, the US Trump administration may confront China or Russia against the treaty, or they may carry out a nuclear test. The United Nations is increasingly concerned about this situation.
