"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses a strong protest in connection with the next visit of the President of the Russian Federation V. Putin to the temporarily occupied by Russia Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, which began on August 27, 2020, which was not coordinated with Ukraine," the message says.

They noted that the Ukrainian side had sent a note of protest to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

On August 27, the Tavrida highway was opened in Crimea, connecting Kerch and Sevastopol.

Putin drove along it.

In a conversation with the workers building the highway, the president said that people would be grateful for the journey "for many, many years to come."

He called "Tavrida" a good impetus for the development of the entire peninsula.

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014, in which most residents voted in favor of reunification with Russia.
