The narcotics were concealed in photo frames, thermos flasks and Biafine tubes packaged in postal parcels. Two Dutch nationals were arrested in possession of ten kilograms of synthetic drugs each, said Thursday, the prosecutor of Lille, in a statement.

On August 19, during a check on the A22 motorway, near the Belgian border, customs officers discovered, in a vehicle, 9.8 kg of ketamine in 10 photo frames packaged to be sent by post, reports the Public minister.

Ecstasy and ketamine

The driver, a 49-year-old Dutch national, alone on board, was placed in customs detention and then in police custody. Placed in pre-trial detention, he will be tried on September 25.

On July 3, another Dutch national, aged about sixty, was intercepted on the A22 at Neuville-en-Ferrain, near Tourcoing. On board his vehicle, customs officers discovered 6 kg of MDMA and 2 kg of ecstasy concealed in thermos and Biafine tubes, packaged in packages ready for dispatch.

The man was sentenced, on August 19, to 3 years in prison, 10 years of ban from French territory and a customs fine of 357,260 euros.

During the month of June, "according to the same procedure, 15 kg of ketamine were seized by customs", adds the prosecutor. An investigation, entrusted to the judicial police of Lille, is underway.
