Xinhua News Agency, Tianjin, August 27 (Reporter Zhou Runjian) Astronomical experts introduced that on the 28th and 29th of this month, Jupiter and Saturn will perform a wonderful drama of "companion" with a bright moon for two consecutive nights. In fine weather, Interested members of the public can see this celestial phenomenon with their naked eyes.

As extraterrestrial planets, Jupiter and Saturn can be visible for more than 9 months each year. This year, Jupiter and Saturn are very close, which is rare.

Li Meicong, deputy director of the Tianjin Astronomical Society, said that in August, both Jupiter and Saturn are located in the southeast sky after sunset. The brightness of the former is about -2.7 and the latter is about 0.2. Jupiter is much brighter than Saturn, almost all Visible at night. Over time, the two will gradually move to the southern sky.

At around 21:00 on the 28th, if the weather is fine and the public looks towards the southern sky, they will see three celestial bodies, Saturn, Jupiter, and the Moon arranged in sequence. The distance between Jupiter and Saturn is 8.3 degrees, and the distance between the Moon and Jupiter is 8.1 degrees, almost equidistant. Then as the moon slowly moved eastward, by the evening of the 29th, the moon will move to the lower right corner of Saturn. The distance between the Moon and Saturn is 4.1 degrees, the distance between the Moon and Jupiter is 5.9 degrees, and the distance between Jupiter and Saturn is 8.3 degrees. For two consecutive nights, these three bright celestial bodies competed to become a beautiful scenery line in the southern sky.

Li Meicong said that for the general public, this is a good opportunity to get to know Jupiter and Saturn. If you use binoculars, you will be able to observe the details of the surface of Jupiter, Saturn's halo and several bright moons.
