Chinanews, August 27th, a comprehensive report that in January 2020, American basketball superstar Kobe Bryant and eight other people were killed in a helicopter crash. The helicopter company recently filed a lawsuit alleging that two air traffic controllers of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) committed a series of "mistakes or negligence" that led to the crash.

The complaint alleges that the controller made a mistake that caused the driver Ara Zobayan to respond to multiple requests and orders in a timely manner. The Federal Aviation Administration did not comment.

The lawsuit was filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court last week. The complaint alleges that a controller of the Southern California terminal radar control tower improperly terminated radar services and caused the pilot to believe that he was still under supervision.

Another air traffic controller "issued multiple radio calls during the critical phase of the flight... to let the pilot explain where he is and what he intends to do." The complaint stated: "Stress, workload and distraction have greatly affected the ability of pilots to fly aircraft."

In February 2020, Kobe's widow, Vanessa, formally filed a lawsuit against the helicopter operator, Zobayan, and related persons responsible. The complaint stated that “the helicopter company condoned the pilots to take off under the severe weather conditions of heavy fog and low clouds”; at the same time, it mentioned that “the pilot of the airplane was punished by the FAA for violating the safety flight regulations in 2015.”

But Zobayan’s brother said that Kobe knew that flying in the foggy morning was dangerous, but he still chose to let the plane take off.
