Highlights, new measures, new reports: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic around the world.

- Mask from six years old in Spain -

Children will have to wear the mask at all times at school from the age of 6 in Spain, the government announced Thursday, which intends to reopen schools despite a resurgence of the epidemic.

Over the last 14 days, Spain has recorded 190 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, by far the highest rate in the European Union.

- Mask compulsory throughout Paris -

After Marseille, other large French agglomerations could be concerned.

The mask will be compulsory in higher education but also for all students over 11, including during recess, said the Minister of Education.

- France: "indisputable recrudescence" of the virus -

The government notes an "indisputable resurgence of the epidemic" throughout the territory, said the French Prime Minister. With Paris and the Bouches-du-Rhône, 21 departments are now in the red zone.

The authorities set the short-term goal of one million weekly tests against more than 800,000 currently.

Denmark on Thursday placed France in an orange zone, advising against "unnecessary" travel to this country.

- More than 826,000 dead -

The pandemic of the new coronavirus has killed at least 826,512 people worldwide since the end of December, according to a report established by AFP from official sources on Thursday.

The United States is the most affected country in terms of both deaths and cases, with 179,743 deaths for 5,823,685 cases, according to the count from Johns Hopkins University.

Brazil follows with 117,665 dead, Mexico with 62,076 dead, India with 60,472 dead, and the United Kingdom with 41,449 dead.

- Seoul: the National Assembly closed -

The South Korean National Assembly was closed Thursday after the discovery of a journalist who tested positive covering an event there. A group of deputies placed themselves in quarantine.

All schools and colleges in the Seoul area have resumed distance education.

Nightclubs, museums, karaoke bars are closed and large gatherings are prohibited. Sports events are played behind closed doors.

- Germany: 50 euros fine for missing a mask -

Germany will tighten restrictions, according to a draft agreement between regions and government. Fines of 50 euros will be imposed in the event of non-compliance with wearing a mask.

The country will also ban until the end of the year the public in stadiums, cultural places, festivals or fairs.

The country registers around 1,500 new cases daily, the highest since the end of April. The record is at 6,000 at the beginning of April.

- Rwanda: extended curfew -

The Rwandan government is extending the curfew, so far from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., after the discovery of 217 new cases on Tuesday, its daily record.

Schools have remained closed and public transport between Kigali and other regions is suspended.

The country has reopened its international flights to tourists with a certificate proving that they are not contaminated. But its land borders are still closed.

- Tour de France under "almost in camera" -

Thursday's classification of the Alpes-Maritimes in the red zone prompted a prefectural decision of "almost in camera" for the start of the Tour de France cycling event which will be given on Saturday in front of a few dozen spectators in Nice.

As of Thursday, the public was reduced from 1,750 to 1,000 people for the presentation of the runners.
