Port of Beirut, Lebanon resumes operations

According to local media reports, the port of Beirut has now recovered 100% of its operational capacity.

A big explosion occurred in Beirut on August 4, and the port was severely damaged. With the help of the international community, the Beirut port has basically completed its cleanup work.

On August 16, 2020, local time, in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, an excavator carried out demolition work at the explosion site in Beirut Port.

Previously, President Michel Aoun had estimated that the damage caused by the Beirut port explosion was about 15 billion U.S. dollars.

The analysis pointed out that Lebanon is heavily dependent on imports for all kinds of goods, and the restoration of container terminals is of great importance to the country. The port of Beirut has an annual container throughput of more than 1 million TEUs, making it the largest port in Lebanon. (Headquarters reporter Guan Panpan)
