Ville Merlöv and Albin Sjögren, 15 and 16 years old and active in Åstorps Cykelklubb proudly show off this summer's project. The club's new technical training course, not far from Tingvalla on the outskirts of the community, is frequently used by the club's mountain bikers.

They both spent most of their summer vacation planning, excavating, building, topping and preparing the new course.

- We wanted jumps, curves and bumps more together, Ville Merlöv explains.

- Out in the woods, the challenges become so scattered, in addition, it is easier for the coaches to keep track and give the right instructions here in the training area, he continues.

Do not regret all the work

Most of the summer vacation was spent on track construction, but Albin Sjögren does not regret the choice of summer job.

- When you now see the result, how nice it turned out and how many of our cycling friends enjoy the new track, I do not regret all the work we put down, he says.

A number of years ago, Åstorp's cycling club faced a dilemma. The merited club's road cyclists became fewer and fewer and a closure threatened. But instead of closing down, the club invested in mountain biking, cycling in the woods and nature. The initiative, under the name "Rocky Skåne", has made more people come to the club. In addition, the age range of the club's practitioners has increased. From 4 years to a bit over 70.
