The Corona vaccine will not be effective on obese people due to the reason of the immune system
The researchers warned that the Corona vaccine may not be effective in people with obese bodies. Although most scientists believe that the vaccine against Corona may be ready at the beginning of next year, experts now say that obese people who make up a third of the United Kingdom's population, and make up 40% of the United States' population, may not benefit from the vaccine like those with normal bodies.
At the present time, obese people are at great risk from Corona disease, as they are twice as likely to go to hospital than normal people, and they are 50% more likely to die than ordinary people.
And researchers discovered in the past that influenza vaccines do not work well in obese people, and they fear that the same will apply to any vaccine against Corona disease.
This is because high blood sugar levels, poor insulin control, and swollen blood vessels, common in obese people, can stop immune cells from working as they should.
This warning came by researchers at the University of North Carolina in research on the relationship between obesity and the Corona virus.
"We are not saying that a vaccine will never be effective in obese people," said Professor Melanda Beck, author of the study. But obesity should be viewed as a modifying factor that must be taken into account when testing a vaccine.
Professor Beck and her colleagues emphasized that scientists who test vaccine trials should take into account its effect on obese people.
They said, "It is important that any studies or trials of the vaccine must take into account" body mass index ".
There are now many vaccines in development around the world, while only a few are in the process of testing in humans.
