Exceptional. The Nantes vineyard harvest will begin on Wednesday August 26, announces the Nantes Wines Federation. The harvest is one of the earliest for 40 years, comparable to 1989, 2003 and 2011. Last year, the harvest kicked off on September 5th.

The hot and dry spring combined with a hot but watered summer “optimized the maturity” of the bunches, justifies the federation, which believes that this harvest “will mark the spirits of the winegrowers”.

This time the frost didn't do any damage

Unlike 2019, the year in which the spring frost had caused great damage, the volumes to be collected are expected to be “satisfactory” and of “good quality”. Good news for the 500 winegrowers of the Nantes vineyard who had already been faced with very scanty harvests in 2016 and 2017.

The harvest, which is carried out mainly with a harvesting machine, should last around three weeks.
