SVT has previously met Einar Rudaa, who founded the facebook group "Norwegians with holiday homes in Sweden". Now he and the group's members have enlisted the help of a law firm which, in a letter to the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services, demands relief from the quarantine rules. Among other things, they want cottage owners to be able to travel directly to and from their cottage and spend the night without having to be quarantined after returning to Norway.

- Many of these (holiday home owners, editor's note) have in reality been deprived of the opportunity to use their property after Norway introduced travel restrictions to Sweden, they write in the letter.

Great financial damage

According to the letter to the authority, the quarantine requirement, which applies during most of the pandemic, has caused great financial damage. This is due to the fact that necessary maintenance work on the houses could not be carried out.

- Through the EEA agreement, Norway is obliged to comply with the four freedoms, and Norway's obligations under the agreement take precedence over Norwegian law, the lawyer writes, who believes that the quarantine rules violate the right to free movement of persons and capital within the EEA area.

If the Ministry of Health and Care Services does not meet the requirements, the cottage owners warn that they may sue the Norwegian state.
