A 22-year-old young man was tried on Tuesday before the Rennes criminal court for repeated violence against his partner, reports Ouest-France . Eight months pregnant and with one leg amputated, the victim, who uses a wheelchair, suffered for several months violence from her companion who insulted her, slapped her and beat her regularly.

The individual was arrested on Friday in the Breton capital. That day, his birthday, the young man hit his partner again, slapping her hard behind and on the head and forcing her to sleep on the floor. The court sentenced him to twelve months in prison, six of which were suspended. He is also prohibited from coming into contact with the victim and appearing at his home.
