It is noted that at present the sailors "are in the regional headquarters of the Nigerian Navy in Port Harcourt, where they will undergo a medical examination before returning to their homeland." 

In July, it was reported that pirates abducted 13 Russian and Ukrainian sailors from the MV Curacao Trader off the Benin coast in the Gulf of Guinea.
