Bahrain confirms to Pompeo the need for a Palestinian state to achieve peace

The Bahraini monarch, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, affirmed to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in Manama, yesterday, his country's commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative, which provides for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in exchange for the normalization of relations.

The Bahrain News Agency quoted the king as stressing, during the meeting, “the importance of intensifying efforts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with the two-state solution that achieves a just and comprehensive peace and leads to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative. ».

The king praised the pivotal role of the US administration and its efforts to advance the peace process and confront Iranian interference in the region’s affairs.
