When help found him in the water, it was too late. At the end of the day on Tuesday, a 30-year-old man drowned while swimming in the waters of the Rhône in Givors, near Lyon. Shortly before the tragedy, the victim would have undertaken to cross the river with one of his friends, between Chasse-sur-Rhône and Givors, reports Le Progrès.
They were swimming from one bank to the other when around 7 p.m. one of them sank and disappeared in the water. Alerted by his friend, help arrived in large numbers to find the man. Divers and a helicopter from Samu went to the site in particular. The victim was finally recovered around 7:30 p.m. but could not be revived despite attempts by the emergency services.
