At the international forum "Army-2020", which is taking place these days in the "Patriot" park (Kubinka), a model of the unique domestic radar station (radar) of the meter range "Resonance-NE" was presented. This complex allows you to detect hypersonic and stealth targets. The station already maintains a combat watch in the Arctic regions of the Russian Federation and is successfully sold abroad.

"Resonance-NE" consists of several massive structures covering an area of approximately one hectare. The main element of the complex are antenna feeder devices (AFD), which are necessary to amplify the power of radio emission, receive and process data. The station is devoid of rotating antennas, since the circular view of space is carried out electronically.

The radar also includes computers, and, if necessary, the Lira-VME ground-based radio interrogator can be used. It gives the station additional combat capabilities, can be used to control air traffic and determine the nationality of aircraft.

The developer of this air defense-missile defense system is ZAO NITs "Resonance" (Moscow). In the western classification, the metropolitan radar belongs to the Early Warning Radar Complex type - an early warning radar complex.

The brainchild of Moscow specialists is capable of detecting and issuing target designations for aerodynamic aerial objects at a distance of up to 600 km, in height - up to 100 km. In this case, ballistic targets fall into the visibility zone of the "Resonance-NE" at a distance of up to 1100 km. The radar was created taking into account the latest achievements in the field of radar, computer technology and digital signal processing.

In addition to the long range of monitoring the air situation, the developer considers high noise immunity, accurate determination of the number of targets, reliability, a significant resource of continuous operation, and modularity of equipment construction to be the main advantages of Resonance-NE.

In addition, the radar has the function of simultaneous interfacing with the equipment of command posts and automated control systems (ACS) by means of air defense, in particular with the Polyana-D4M1 complex.

Hunting for stealth and hypersound

In practice, "Resonance-NE" is capable of detecting a wide class of air targets - strategic and operational-tactical aircraft, helicopters, cruise and ballistic missiles, balloons. However, the main "specialization" of the domestic station is stealth aircraft, cruise missiles and hypersonic products.

The radar implements the principle of resonant reflection of radio waves, which leads to a sharp increase in the effective reflecting surface (EOC) of air objects. Thus, the system unmistakably captures aircraft made using stealth technology, and transmits data on them to fire weapons.

According to the calculations of Moscow engineers, the image intensifier of a typical cruise missile for radars using the Rayleigh effect is about 0.05 sq. m, and for "Resonance-NE" - 15 sq. m.

“This phenomenon makes the stealth technology ineffective and practically removes the issue of stealth of such air objects as (American. - RT ) aircraft F-117, B-2, F-35 and similar ones,” - said in the materials of ZAO NRC “ Resonance".

The situation with the detection and tracking of hypersonic objects is more complicated, said the CEO of the enterprise Ivan Nazarenko in an interview with RT. However, the capabilities of "Resonance-NE" make it possible to solve this problem by reducing to one second the tempo of addressing the target (the rate of information renewal). On other radars, this figure is approximately 10 seconds.

“Naturally, a hypersonic product flies quickly, and other radars simply cannot keep up with it. Our paced appeal allows you to track such targets in a timely manner. The hypersonic vehicle enters the energy field that the locator emits. The station operator can see such an object on the screen, it is highlighted in red, ”Nazarenko said.

As the head of CJSC R&D Center “Resonance” explained, such a radar station occupies an important niche in the Russian air defense system. According to Nazarenko, today the domestic station is the most reliable means of transmitting information on hypersonic products to complexes for combating them.

In a conversation with RT, the deputy head of CJSC NRC Resonance, Doctor of Technical Sciences Alexander Shcherbinko drew attention to the cognitive function of the radar. It consists in the fact that the computer equipment of the station analyzes the results of work on detecting air targets, identifies errors and corrects them.

“Our cognitive locator is artificially intelligent. He "learns" and develops more advanced algorithms. In the case of hypersound, artificial intelligence analyzes all target marks. That's a trillion operations, but artificial intelligence saves machine time significantly. What, in fact, is the low indicator of the rate of access to the goal, ”explained Shcherbinko.

Five cognitive radar stations are currently deployed in the Arctic, he said. The same number of "Resonance-NE" radar stations will appear in the Russian Arctic in the coming years. Moreover, the systems that are supplied to foreign countries are devoid of artificial intelligence.

"Resonance-NE" can be operated in almost any natural and climatic conditions. The radar system can withstand temperatures from -50 ℃ to +60 ℃, wind gusts up to 50 m / s, precipitation density up to 300 mm / h, humidity up to 95% at +25 ℃.

As a rule, on the ground "Resonance-NE" is deployed in the form of a square of four modules. However, at the request of the customer, the radar can be assembled in one-module, two-module or three-module versions with viewing sectors of 90 °, 180 ° and 270 °, respectively.

"In leadership positions"

In an interview with RT, the director of the Air Defense Museum in Balashikha, Yuri Knutov, called Resonance-NE a highly effective system for detecting hypersonic and stealth aircraft. According to him, the artificial intelligence of the station makes it possible to simulate the electronic image of the target, to accurately determine its type and flight parameters.

“The system is truly unique. She confirmed the characteristics during tests, then they began to place it in the Arctic. If I'm not mistaken, "Resonance-NE" is in service with Egypt and Iran abroad. Considering the frequency of flights of Israeli F-35s, these aircraft probably managed to get into the field of view of Russian radars in the Middle East, "Knutov suggests.

According to the expert, Russia was able to get ahead of the United States and other states in the development of radar detection systems for hypersonic products. According to Knutov, at present, the RF Armed Forces have the ability to hit targets that develop speeds over 5 Mach numbers.

“In Russia, several stations“ Resonance-NE ”are on duty in the Arctic. This is due to the fact that it is the northwest of Russia that is considered the most important defense region. However, over time, "Resonance-NE" or its improved versions may well be deployed in other missile-hazardous areas, "Knutov predicts.

In a commentary to RT, the director of the Center for Military-Political Research of MGIMO, Alexei Podberezkin, noted that Russian developers of air defense-missile defense systems quite rightly proceed from the thesis about the inevitability of the mass proliferation of hypersonic vehicles. In this regard, there is a growing demand for increasing the effectiveness of means of combating this type of weapon.

“Hypersonic weapons will develop, naturally, the means of detecting and destroying them will also get better. Russia in this process is absolutely sure to be in a leading position, "Podberezkin emphasized.
