Illustration of a police intervention, here on the very festive Place des Lices, in Rennes. - C. Allain / 20 Minutes

The tension does not fall in the city center of Rennes, where violence has now become daily. During the night from Sunday to Monday, a new fight broke out in front of the entrance to a night bar on Place Rallier-du-Baty. A group of ten highly alcoholic individuals was refused entry to the establishment a little before 2 a.m.

Threatened and insulted, the security agents then contacted the police, who went there. The situation then escalated and two of the individuals, a father and son, aged 41 and 17 respectively, started beating the police. The latter were forced to use tear gas to escape.

Five days of ITT for one of the police officers

The three policemen were injured during the intervention. One of them was prescribed five days of temporary incapacity for work after receiving a punch in the face.

The two alleged perpetrators of the violence were arrested and taken into police custody. The father will be tried in May, while his son will be summoned before a children's judge.
