One week ago, Chalmers began accepting the new students. The groups must not be more than 50 people and indoors you are careful to have a maximum of 50 percent in the premises.

- There will be more outdoor activities such as dinners and sports competitions, but also our own digital Eurovision festival, which everyone can stream, says David Welander, union chairman of Chalmers.

The reception could be canceled

It was not entirely certain that the reception would be off at all as there were thoughts of canceling.

- Young people want to be close to each other and that is a risk factor, but we still made an assessment that it is important to make new friends. Especially as the opportunity to meet between other sections and programs that we used to arrange has disappeared, unfortunately, says David Welander.

Isn't there a risk that young people will forget to keep their distance?

- We have campus hosts and staff who remind students of the social distance, so we think it has worked. Many people get in touch and find it fun that the reception is over, even though some new outdoor activities can be perceived as loud. But I think that on the whole, the students behave well and keep a social distance.
