A conflict between two groups in the district Araby in Växjö has flared up in recent days, with a suspected assassination attempt this weekend, burned cars and gunfire in the area.

This has meant that Växjö municipality has now introduced a number of security-creating measures, the municipality writes in a press release. Among other things, the municipality's field group and adult hikers have been strengthened and move extra in the area.

- We have deployed extra staff to create peace and security. The schools in the vicinity have also been commissioned to pay extra attention to concerns and rumors. We take the concerns that exist very seriously, says Anna Tenje (M), chairman of the municipal board in Växjö.

The home service runs twice in the evenings

The municipality has also deployed so-called "double staffing" for staff in care, technology and work and welfare who stay in the area around Araby evenings and weekends, as a security measure. This is despite the fact that the risk of a third person being affected by the unrest is assessed as "very low".

The decisions have been made in dialogue with the police:

- Cooperation and dialogue with the police is incredibly important. It is ongoing and we follow their daily report, says Marcus Holmqvist, head of security at Växjö municipality in the press release.
