This is a commercial test kit from China that has given positive test results about ongoing infection in covid-19 in people who have in fact been healthy.

- It is extremely unfortunate, says Ola Winqvist, who believes that the false positive answers may have led to people on incorrect grounds believing themselves to be immune and then not living up to the Swedish Public Health Agency's recommendations.

The incorrect test results come from tests done from March to mid-August.

- In July, we began to notice that there was something difficult with the test and together with other labs and the Public Health Agency, we have now made an investigation and found deficiencies in the quality of this kit.

"Should catch the shortcomings"

The question now is whether there may be more tests that did not work.

- There may be, but the system can catch these shortcomings.

- One should also understand that this test was developed in the midst of burning chaos and the state of war that almost prevailed. It was difficult to get hold of PCR kits and all actors have been beaten to get the testing started.

The Swedes who received a false positive answer will receive information about this no later than Thursday and be offered an antibody test.
