“The parliament does not recognize the presidential elections held in Belarus on August 9, 2020, because they were not free, fair and democratic,” the statement said.

As noted, the parliament condemns the use of force against peaceful demonstrators and calls on the Belarusian authorities to release all those detained for political reasons.

In addition, parliament calls for the early holding of free, fair and democratic presidential elections under the supervision of the OSCE and other international organizations.

Earlier it became known that Latvia and Estonia will impose targeted sanctions against officials of Belarus, who, in their opinion, are responsible for "falsifying the results of the presidential elections" and the use of violence against protesters.

In mid-August, the Seims of Latvia and Lithuania also did not recognize the presidential elections in Belarus.
