Colombia has been the scene in the last 15 years - during the presidencies of Alvaro Uribe, Juan Manuel Santos and Iván Duque - of nearly 400 massacres which caused a total of at least 1,853 deaths. The figure was released today by Radio Caracol in Bogotà and is based on reports from the Ministry of Defense and National Police drawn up since the end of 2004, and concerning "killing of at least four people in the same place and at the same time".

The topic is considered very topical because in the last two weeks, in various Colombian departments, at least six massacres have occurred which have caused the death of 35 people, including many young people, without the authorities having been able to convincingly explain the reason so far. of this blaze of violence.

According to data published in the Colombian Police Crime Magazine, during the Uribe presidency the massacres (between 2005 and 2009) were 177, for a total of 889 deaths. Subsequently, between 2010 and 2017, for the same number of massacres recorded during the management of Uribe (177), President Santos accumulated the killing of 759 people. Finally, in the two years in power of the current President Duque, there have been 40 massacres, for a total of 205 deaths.
