Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, who announced two weeks ago that he had been diagnosed positive for the coronavirus, announced on Tuesday that he was cured.

"After 21 days of disciplined confinement, I can say that I have overcome the Covid-19 infection. I am cured," he wrote on his Twitter account.

"All my thoughts for those who did not succeed and for those who lived it worse than me. Courage to all those who are in full struggle" against the virus, added the actor of the "Mask of Zorro" or "Interview with a Vampire".

Antonio Banderas announced on August 10, the day of his 60th birthday, that he was in quarantine after having been diagnosed positive for the coronavirus, while specifying that he was "relatively well" and was only a little "tired".

Honored with numerous awards during his long career, Antonio Banderas was nominated for the first time at the Oscars for his eighth film directed by Spanish director Pedro Almodovar, "Pain and Glory", without winning the statuette. But the film won him an interpretation award at the Cannes film festival in 2019.
