When do classes start?

The course will begin in a staggered manner. The first to return to the classroom after almost six months will be the almost 93,000 students of the first cycle of Early Childhood Education (0-3 years), on September 4. On the 8th it will be the turn for 412,000 students, corresponding to the second cycle of Early Childhood Education (3-6 years) as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd of Primary, and Special Education.

The 9th will be the start of classes for the 243,769 students from 3rd and 4th of ESO, 1st and 2nd of Bachillerato. The Adult Education students will start the course on the 14th, while the 4th, 5th and 6th Primary students, more than 220,000, will begin on September 17th. On the 18th, those from 1st and 2nd of ESO will return together with those from Basic FP and Middle Grade, some 203,600 students, while the last will be 54,000 students from Higher FP, on September 28.

Test to teachers and students

The regional government plan contemplates the voluntary antibody test for teachers and support staff of Madrid centers supported with public funds, which will be carried out to more than 100,000 professionals and will be completed with a PCR in the case of those who results were positive.

Regarding the serological study, called SeroCOL, about 42,500 tests will be carried out on 13,000 students and 1,500 teachers at three different times (September and December 2020 and March 2021.

On the other hand, the Community of Madrid will carry out PCR tests to the students and teachers of the Special Education centers, both at the beginning of the course and throughout it, periodically. In this case, an antibody test will be carried out to know its evolution. The same will be done with teachers and students who belong to risk groups (children in Special Education with pathologies that cannot be integrated into ordinary schools).

Thermometers in classrooms

In addition, rapid thermometers will be provided to all educational centers so that they can take the temperature of their students. In the event that any of them had a fever, the Covid protocol would be applied. These thermometers would also be used with parents who bring their children inside the center in the 0-3 year stage.

Mandatory mask

In view of the health situation, students from 6 years old must wear the mask in the educational center, included in the classes. When the pandemic evolves in a favorable way, this age limit will be raised to those over 11 years of age.

Face-to-face classes up to 2nd of Secondary

The classes will be face-to-face for the stages of Early Childhood, Primary, Special and 1st and 2nd Secondary Education. In the first cycle of Early Childhood Education (0-3 years) all students will attend in person and parents will be able to accompany their children with a mask and using hydroalcoholic gel. The educators must remain with a stable group of coexistence, while those of support will have to take extreme measures of sanitary prevention.

In Special Education, parents will decide, taking into account medical criteria, their children's attendance at the centers. Education will be face-to-face with the creation of coexistence groups of a maximum of 8 students. Health tests and controls will be reinforced in a very notable way in this type of education.

In the Second Cycle of Early Childhood Education (3-6 years) and Primary Education there will be face-to-face education, but the number of students in the stable coexistence groups will be reduced to a maximum of 20 or the safety distance of 1.5 meters will be respected . For this, the spaces in the educational centers will be reorganized so that there are more classrooms and, if necessary, alternative spaces will be enabled in other buildings of regional or local ownership or through prefabricated buildings. If all of the above is not possible, partitions will be installed in the classrooms.

SEMIPRESENTIALITY FROM 3RD OF ESO

Regarding 3rd, 4th, of ESO, Baccalaureate, FP and Adult Education, the education will be blended, but the attendance to the center of the students between a third and a half of the weekly schedule must be guaranteed: students will be able to attend alternate days to class or establish time slots of four hours each day. The Community will provide centers that can opt for the continuous day in an exceptional way during the 2020/21 academic year.

SCHOOL CANTEEN

Regarding the dining room, the service will be maintained offering the possibility of extending the shifts, that the classrooms are used as dining rooms or that the students can take the food home. In addition, the Executive will reinforce school transportation so that they can maintain safe distances. In addition, vehicles must be ventilated and disinfected after each use and the fleet will be increased.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES

In all educational stages, there will be a flexibilization of teaching hours and subjects, as well as a staggering of entries and exits, in order to avoid concentrations of people. It will be recommended, as far as possible, that grandparents do not accompany the students to the centers.

HIRING OF TEACHERS: 11,000 MORE PROFESSIONALS

The spacing of the students requires an increase in groups, which requires a greater number of teachers, according to the Community. For this reason, almost 11,000 professionals will be hired: 600 teachers included in the sector agreement signed with the unions, 200 specialist technicians for Infant and Primary, 350 infant educators, 1,200 Early Childhood Education teachers, 2,400 teachers of other specialties, 2,081 teachers of Secondary and FP, 500 teachers of reinforcement of Primary; another 617 for the same secondary tasks; and 2,662 teachers in concerted education. In addition, to the more than 400 university nursing graduates who work in Madrid's schools, another 150 will be added.

MORE CLEANING AND HYDROALCOHOLIC GELS

The Community of Madrid will also maximize the cleaning processes in the educational centers, and in the event that there is a positive case in them, a thorough disinfection will be carried out. Likewise, 650,000 liters of hydroalcoholic gel and 9,500,000 masks will be supplied to students and teachers, for which, during the first quarter of the course, until January, 25.9 million euros will be allocated.

In addition, the regional government is going to establish subsidies in favor of the municipalities for the improvement of the cleanliness of the Infant and Primary Education centers and Special Education that are within its competence.

A COVID COORDINATOR

It is expected that the figure of the COVID coordinator in each educational center will be in direct contact with the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health. This will report the incidents related to COVID-19 that occur in your center -suspicious, probable or confirmed cases-. The COVID coordinators will receive online training coordinated between the Ministry of Education and Youth and the General Directorate of Public Health to carry out their work with the maximum guarantees.

INVESTMENT IN WORKS AND MORE TECHNOLOGY

Another of the most outstanding aspects is the investment that will be made in educational infrastructures, with an allocation of 35 million euros for actions in 550 centers in the region. It is a great investment effort to guarantee interpersonal distancing and the adaptation of schools and institutes to the situation generated.

Among these tasks are the works of adaptation of spaces, the reform of patios, improvements in toilets, actions to facilitate the ventilation of classrooms and spaces, adaptation of sports courts, installation of prefabricated modules, the acquisition of furniture for new classes and partitions to serve the public and in the event that there are classrooms where interpersonal distance cannot be maintained and there is no alternative to enable other spaces.
