The Dubai Criminal Court has ruled a six-month prison sentence and a fine of 168,000 dirhams against gang members who stole 100 boxes containing medical masks, and 32 boxes containing almonds, from inside a company’s warehouse at night.

One of the company’s owners said that he arrived at its headquarters at around eight o'clock in the morning, and noticed the broken windows of a company’s bus parked in front of the warehouse door, and it was moved backwards in a manner that raised his suspicion, as thieves resorted to that until they could enter, then he saw the lock of the warehouse door broken, and he informed The police inspected the place in his presence, and discovered the theft of 100 boxes of medical masks that he intended to sell, pointing out that each box contains 50 small boxes containing medical masks, in addition to 32 boxes containing almonds.

For his part, a Dubai police witness said that a report was received by the General Department of Operations, according to which a robbery was carried out in Al-Qusais Industrial Area 4, where a gang robbed a warehouse after moving a bus that closed its door, and then its members broke the warehouse door.

He added that by reviewing the surveillance cameras, the defendants were seen traveling in a Mitsubishi vehicle of unknown origin, and two people got off, destroyed the bus, and moved it, then the rest of the defendants joined them, breaking the warehouse door, stealing the movables, and fleeing the scene.

He pointed out that, after searching and investigating, the team working in the case reached the identity of two of the accused, and their residence was determined in the Emirate of Sharjah, and after obtaining permission from the Public Prosecution and coordinating with Sharjah Police, they were arrested in the tenth industrial zone, and by continuing the search and investigation. The rest of the defendants were tracked down, and the third and fourth defendants were found in the second Al-Qusais area, and all the accused confessed to the crimes attributed to them.

He added that a report on the incident was drawn up, and the accused were referred to the Public Prosecution in Dubai, and after completing the investigations, the prosecution decided to refer the defendants and the case file to the Criminal Court, which ruled that the defendants were imprisoned for six months and fined 168,000 dirhams.
