Tunisian Prime Minister-designate announces his ministerial formation from the Carthage Palace

Tunisia's Prime Minister-designate Hicham El-Mechichi announced, on Monday, the formation of a technocratic government, independent of the parties, in a move aimed at distancing himself from political conflicts and reviving the faltering economy.

Al-Mashishi, 46, was appointed by President Qais Saeed last month, and he was Minister of Interior in Elias Fakhfakh's government, who resigned due to suspicions of conflict of interest.

Al-Mashishi appointed Ali Al-Kali, a liberal economic banker, as Minister of Economy, Finance and Investment Support, after the prime minister-designate decided to merge the economic ministries as part of a government restructuring.
