Sweden's united student unions, SFS, have once again compiled situations regarding the housing situation in the country's student cities before the start of the semester. Among 33 study locations, 15 cities are now marked in green, ie students can count on a home at the start of the semester. Jönköping is one of them.

“More student housing has been built since last year, which has contributed to reducing the housing shortage somewhat for the students. Many educations are conducted temporarily at a distance, which also contributes to reducing the demand for housing at the start of the semester ", it says about Jönköping in the housing report.

Probably temporary improvement

Eleven cities are marked in yellow (housing can be offered within one semester) while seven are marked in red (it takes more than one semester to get housing).

According to SFS, it is difficult to assess whether there is a long-term balance with student housing in Jönköping, but that it is probably only a temporary effect of the corona pandemic. 5,676 people were admitted to Jönköping University before the autumn semester. That is just over 900 more than in the autumn of 2019.

The housing report shows the same trend as the municipal housing company Vätterhem reported earlier in August. More about that in the clip below.
