During the convention, Republicans will formally nominate their presidential candidate. Donald Trump will speak every four nights instead of once which is otherwise standard.

Recently, the president has endured criticism, even from his own party. Last week, veteran and former Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich spoke at the Democratic convention.

- It is clear that it is a hard blow for Donald Trump that in the final sprint of the election campaign he suffers opposition from his own. Then these people are often described as weak politicians who are on their way out of the political core, says SVT's US correspondent Stefan Åsberg in Morgonstudion.
