Regional Councilor Samuel Godrén (SD) thinks that the proposal for a new train depot in Nässjö has been rushed forward and that a result of this is an increase in the cost of the project.

- The construction time is extremely tight, which makes the investment unreasonably expensive, he says.

Completed by 2023

According to the proposal, the new train depot will be completed in 2023, just in time for the new Krösatågen trains to be delivered. The new trains require a larger facility in order to be able to take care of the maintenance.

But Samuel Godrén says that SD will vote against the proposal.

- We demand that the matter be referred back and that the construction, ownership and operation of the train depot instead be offered to an external player based on a contract period for the maintenance of the trains.

Press the price

But if the proposal does not go through in the council and it is referred back. Is there not a risk that the entire project will be greatly delayed and that the new trains that will be in operation in 2023 will be unused?

- Yes, it can be that effect, but we believe that it is better to operate these lines with direct buses in the meantime. It would also be cheaper. I think it might take an extra year if we get what we want, but it would save money.

However, Samuel Godrén does not believe that SD's position on the issue will get a majority in the council.
