The wind will blow hard on the northern coasts on Tuesday. Difficult weather conditions which prompted the maritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea to issue a call for vigilance.

The disturbance will begin to be felt on the seafront between Normandy and Hauts-de-France on the morning of Tuesday, August 25, 2020 around 8 a.m. with winds from the south to southwest, which will strengthen and will reach 30 knots (around 55 km / h) with gusts up to 45 knots (around 80 km / h). The seas will become rough offshore for the whole of the English Channel and the North Sea (wave height of 1.25 to 2.5 m), and up to strong to very strong (wave height of 2.5 to 6 m) in the afternoon.

The practice of water sports is strongly discouraged

In view of these weather conditions, the maritime prefect advises against any practice of nautical recreation and calls on users of the sea to be extremely careful. For boaters, it is advisable to postpone any departure to sea and not to practice water sports, to check the mooring of your vessel and the stowage of equipment on board. For swimmers, divers, fishermen or walkers, it is requested to be particularly vigilant, in particular on the beaches and the foreshore.
