  On the 24th local time, Peruvian Interior Minister Montoya revealed the latest investigation progress of the "dance hall stampede" in the capital Lima on the evening of the 22nd in an interview with local media. Montoya said that on the evening of the 22nd, the patrol police in Olivos District, Lima, rushed to the ballroom as soon as they received reports from residents. After entering the ballroom, the police asked all the people present to stand facing the wall for interrogation. However, some of them looked for an opportunity to hide, and then someone began to throw glass bottles of wine and water at the police officers and attempted to escape the closed gate. The stampede happened. Montoya emphasized that the police strictly followed the case-handling procedures and various regulations during this surprise inspection. Peruvian police commander Velasco said on the 24th that the first verification of the evidence collected at the ballroom scene has been conducted. The preliminary results show that the police did not use weapons or throw tear gas that night. Velasco said that relevant departments will also conduct a second verification and confirmation on the evidence collected at the scene on the 24th.
