The Hokkaido-Japan Defense Bureau and the US Armed Forces in Japan held a briefing session on training for local governments as the US-Japan joint training, in which US-Japan fighters participated, started on the 24th in Hokkaido.

The Japan-US joint training in Hokkaido, such as the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Chitose base following the reorganization of the US Army in Japan, will be conducted from the 24th to the 28th of this month. And a total of 12 F16 fighters will participate.

For this training, at the Chitose base, the Hokkaido Defense Bureau and the US Armed Forces in Japan held a briefing session with local municipalities such as Chitose City and Tomakomai City on the 24th.

In this situation, the Hokkaido Defense Bureau explained that during the training period, a local liaison headquarters was set up at the base to provide information to relevant local governments.

After the briefing session, the Hokkaido Defense Bureau and the US Armed Forces in Japan held a press conference, and US commander Colonel Brandon L. McBryer on training said, “Increasing Japan-US interoperability, We have determined that training is necessary to protect peace and stability. We will follow the steps and take every possible measure to prevent new coronavirus infections."
