- Stockholm already has the Jewish Museum and Forum for Living History. We completely miss this in Malmö and we really need a Holocaust Museum in our city, says Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh (S), chairman of the municipal board in Malmö.

The City of Culture in Stockholm believes instead that the Holocaust Museum can work together with other units in the city.

- I think you should turn it around and see it as a new museum can lead to accumulation and that we can learn from each other at the various units in Stockholm, says Jonas Naddebo (C), Cultural Council in Stockholm.

"Important with museums throughout the country"

Jonas Naddebo (C) also believes that the hospitality industry is larger in Stockholm and that it creates better conditions for a Holocaust museum.

- It is important that many visitors really come to such a valuable place as this will be, he says.

But Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh (S) does not agree with that argument.

- I understand that you can think like that if you are active in Stockholm. But we also know that it is important that we have this type of museum around the country and not just in our capital.

Lund backs up

Now, Lund's leading politicians will also submit an opinion to the municipal board regarding the Holocaust Museum.

- We will back Malmö. For us, it is completely natural that it ends up right there. Skåne has a historical connection to the Holocaust and a proximity to the continent, says Philip Sandberg (L), chairman of the municipal board in Lund.

Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh (S) believes that she believes in Malmö's strong arguments for getting the museum to the city.

- Malmö has a clear connection to the Holocaust and has always been the port of hope. We also have a large Roma population that we think should be noticed in this context, she says.
