Helsingborg can have its own large warehouse with healthcare materials

The Corona pandemic has started a debate in society about the need for emergency stocks.

- Contingency thinking has, as it were, sunk into our consciousness during the many years when nothing has happened that has created a need for it. We have been lulled into false security. But the corona pandemic has led to an awakening, says Lars Thunberg (KD).

Last year, the care and welfare committee decided to invest in stationary reserve units at all the city's care homes to secure the electricity supply in the event of a prolonged power outage.

Now politicians want to take the next step - permanent emergency stocks. So that there is a stock of, among other things, food, medical supplies and medicines in the event of a crisis.

The Social Democrats support the proposal.

- I think it sounds like a good idea to be prepared for any future crisis. It was a bit messy in elderly care at the beginning of the corona pandemic, but eventually we got protective equipment and other things so that we can manage, says Christel Håkansson (S), vice chairman of the care and welfare committee.
