China News Service, August 23. According to Agence France-Presse, on the 22nd local time, Peruvian police committed a stampede during a raid on a nightclub in the capital Lima. At least 13 people were killed. Allegedly, this nightclub was holding a party that violated epidemic prevention regulations.

  According to reports, the Peruvian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated in a statement that the gathering was initiated from social media and about 120 people attended.

  It is reported that the police did not use any type of weapons or tear gas in the operation, but the crowd still tried to escape from the only exit, which triggered a stampede.

  The Ministry of the Interior said that in addition to the 13 dead, another 6 people were injured, including 3 policemen.

  Local media reported that the victims were all young people in their 20s. Peruvian Women’s Minister Sasita said, “This shouldn’t have happened. We are in a pandemic and health emergency. I call for maximum punishment for nightclub owners.”

  The Ministry of the Interior said that 23 people have been detained and the authorities are trying to confirm the identity of the organizer and the owner of the house.
