In the context of the UAE’s continued solidarity with the brotherly Lebanese people in the ordeal that it recently suffered as a result of the violent explosion in the Lebanese capital Beirut, the International Humanitarian City in Dubai continued to transport more additional aid by air to Lebanon.

The aid included flying two Emirates Airlines planes from Dubai International Airport, carrying more than 30 tons of aid, including nearly 12 tons of medical supplies from the World Health Organization, and 18 tons of hygiene kits from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

"We will continue to support the relief efforts of our humanitarian community in order to ensure the delivery of appropriate assistance to the Lebanese brothers affected by the explosion, in addition to providing the necessary medical assistance to combat the (Covid-19) pandemic," said the Executive Director of the International Humanitarian City, Giuseppe Saba.

Saba added: “The new aid directed to Lebanon represents the joint efforts between the International Humanitarian City and (Emirates Air Cargo), which facilitate the transfer of humanitarian aid based on the values ​​of the Emirate of Dubai in supporting relief efforts for those in dire need.” He stressed that the continuation of the Emirati aid to Lebanon reflects the keenness of the wise leadership of the UAE to stand by the brothers in various difficult situations, and to extend a helping hand to every needy person. Robert Blanchard, from the World Health Organization Logistics Center in Dubai, said: “The continued humanitarian response to the Lebanese people as a result of the recent explosion in Beirut, which killed nearly 178 people and left more than 6,000 wounded, aims to support treatment of the injured and protect workers in the field Health care, pointing out that one of the marches included 11.5 tons of medical supplies, for trauma treatment and surgical supplies donated by the Russian government, in addition to 576,000 surgical and hand sanitizer masks to protect health care workers from the potential impact of the Covid-19 virus. While another flight carried 18 tons of aid sent by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), with the support of the International Humanitarian City and the Government of Dubai, and the Global Logistics Center in Dubai, and included nearly 65 cubic meters of hygiene boxes. Health Ministry, affirming the World Health Organization’s keenness and continued commitment to support Beirut’s residents and the international community in responding to and recovering from the devastating impact of the explosion.
