Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASELSAN, Turkey for Defense Industries, Haluk Gorgon, said Saturday that it has become the first local company to enter the list of the 50 largest in the world in this sector.
This came during the ceremony of handing over a "Priscope" detector scope intended for armored vehicles, and an advanced target for pistols, which were developed with local capabilities at the company's headquarters in the Turkish state of Sivas.
Gorgon indicated that Aselsan occupied its place among the companies that achieved the largest income in the world in light of the continuous growth of the defense industries sector in Turkey.
He explained that there are seven Turkish companies that entered the aforementioned list, but Aselsan is the first company locally to come to the 48th place among the largest in the world.
Aselsan Military Electronic Industries has strengthened its position on the list of the best global companies producing weapons and military equipment in the world.
This came according to what was announced by Defense News, the American magazine, which annually ranks the 100 best global companies in the field of defense industries, and Aselsan was able to occupy the 48th place in the list this year, after it was ranked 52 last year.
In 2018, Aselsan had a budget of one billion and 792 million dollars, and the company was able to increase this value in the following year by 21%, to make its budget two billion and 172 million dollars.
Aselsan is credited with the pioneering research and innovation in military and civilian communications systems, radar devices and electronic warfare.
As well as its innovations in electrical and optical systems, defense systems, armament, control, and other marine defense systems based on its own efforts in research and development.
