The Dubai Criminal Court heard a case in which an African was accused of trying to sell counterfeit dollar currency to an Arab employee and deceive him.
According to the case papers, the accused tried to sell a counterfeit dollar denomination to the employee, claiming that it was original but sealed, and he would give him every 500 dollars for 1000 dirhams, so the man walked with him and was about to fall into the clutches of the accused, but he suspected him at the last moment, and informed the Dubai police that arrested Accordingly, in possession of 182 forged $ 100 bills, he was referred to the Public Prosecution office and from there to the Criminal Court in Dubai, which postponed hearing the case until the sixth session of September.
The victim (customer service employee) said that his acquaintance with the accused began in December of last year, when he saw an advertisement about the sale of a vehicle at a commercial site, so he contacted the number by phone, and the advertiser (the accused) informed him that the vehicle was outside the country, and he told him some details that were not Convinced of it, and provided the police with the number of the advertiser when suspected.
He added that he received a call from the same number after a while, and the accused told him that he had an investor who wanted to come to the state. He is a diplomat who has a large sum in dollar currency but sealed with a “safety” stamp, and it can be cleaned and traded in the state, and he wants to sell every $ 500 for 1,000 dirhams, in order to remove The seal, and he promised him a rate of 10% if he helped him promote the currency, then he agreed with him to rent a room for the alleged diplomat, as he did not carry identification papers, so the victim actually rented the room, ordering himself a profitable deal.
The victim continued that he met the accused in the room and the latter took out a bundle of dollars, and asked him for a bill of 1000 dirhams and put it in hot water, then he pulled 500 dollars from the package, put it in water, and ironed it with a hotel iron, so the seal disappeared from it, and he asked him to go to the exchange and make sure by himself. It was correct, so he went there and spent it already for the amount of 1800 dirhams, but he did not feel comfortable on his return to the hotel, so he informed the police who came to the room, arrested the accused, and discovered that the coin in his possession was forged, and that he had withdrawn from it the correct 500 dollars in order to defraud the victim. .
