The first comment from Sisi after the cease-fire decision in Libya

On Friday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed all the statements issued by the Libyan Presidential Council and the Libyan House of Representatives calling for a ceasefire in Libya.

Al-Sisi said through his official account on the social networking site Twitter, “I welcome the statements issued by the Presidential Council and the House of Representatives in Libya to cease fire and stop military operations in all Libyan lands as an important step on the road to achieving a political settlement and the aspirations of the Libyan people to restore stability and prosperity in Libya. And save the capabilities of its people ».

The Presidency Council of the Government of National Accord had declared a ceasefire in all of the Libyan territories, adding that the ceasefire requires the transformation of Sirte and Al-Jufrah into a demilitarized zone.

The Presidency Council has also called for presidential and parliamentary elections next March.

The Presidency Council also announced that the presidential and parliamentary elections will take place according to a constitutional base agreed upon by Libyans.

For his part, the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, called on all conflicting parties in Libya for an immediate ceasefire.

Aguila Saleh stressed the need to dismantle the militias to restore full national sovereignty and expel foreign mercenaries from Libyan lands.

The United Nations Mission in Libya strongly welcomed the consensus between the statements of the Presidential Council and the House of Representatives aiming at a ceasefire and activating the political process.
