“The Ukrainian Crimea is very close, and it will definitely return to us,” Zelensky said.

At the same time, the president believes that the "return" of the peninsula "will happen much faster" when next to Crimea there will be a "blooming, shining, successful" Kherson region.

Earlier, Zelensky announced his intention to "return the issue of Crimea" to the agenda.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that the issue of Crimea is closed for Russia. According to him, the referendum on the peninsula was held in strict accordance with international law.

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014, in which most residents voted in favor of reunification with Russia.
