Recently, in order to effectively solve the outstanding problems of the online course platform involving minors, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of minors, and promote the standardized and orderly development of the online course platform, the Central Cyberspace Administration and the Ministry of Education launched a two-month online course for minors. Special rectification of the platform.

This special rectification will focus on prominent issues that netizens have strongly reported. For example, it is necessary to strengthen the ecological management around the online course page, and no content that harms the physical and mental health of minors should be displayed; pop-up windows should not be used to induce clicks on pages that are not suitable for minors; advertising information that is not related to learning should not be pushed; non-profit websites should not be used Lessons to seek commercial interests, etc.

During the special rectification period, what is the status quo of various website platforms that offer online courses for minors? Recently, a reporter from the Rule of Law Daily launched an investigation.

The youth model is in vain

The platform still pushes bad information

Currently, online course platforms commonly used by minors can be divided into two categories, one is an online cloud classroom teaching platform specially developed by the government or school, and the other is an online online course platform developed by social networking sites.

On August 19, a reporter from the Rule of Law Daily logged on to an online course platform and saw that the homepage of the platform was divided into three parts. The top part was a dynamic public service advertisement, such as "We are in action in the fight against the epidemic", etc., introducing the platform's epidemic During the prevention and control period, students were provided with rich courses so that they could study independently at home. In the middle is the timetable of the live courses from grades 1 to 12. You can click to enter the online course content of any grade. At the bottom are special teacher classes, master classes, etc.

During the browsing process, neither the pop-up window nor the advertisement information unrelated to learning was seen. Subsequently, a reporter from the "Rule of Law Daily" logged onto another video website, and found no content in the learning module that is not suitable for teenagers; on another video website, some modules in the learning channel have been closed.

A reporter from the "Rule of Law Daily" downloaded the software of an education and training institution. After opening it, a notice of special rectification of the summer network environment for minors appeared. Click the link at the bottom to view the rectification results. In the announcement of the rectification results released by it, it stated that it has checked and cleaned up the bad content in the animation animation, live broadcast, short video, forum and online course learning on the platform, and dealt with 154 illegal avatars and 362 illegal nicknames. . In addition, nearly 200,000 pieces of sensitive information were filtered out in live chats alone.

After the online course platform was rectified, it also set up a phone number and email address for minors to report bad content. A reporter from the Rule of Law Daily consulted on related issues as the parents of students. A customer service teacher said that the problematic courses have been handled by relevant personnel. If you find other problems, you can contact them to register and deal with them.

In the process of logging into some platforms with online course functions, a reporter from the Rule of Law Daily found that some online course platforms have launched a child/youth model after rectification. In the youth model, all content presented to users is filtered by the platform. And it is not possible to perform regular operations such as recharge, rewards, and comments.

Part of the software directly adds a child/youth account through a separate password setting in the youth mode, and the content browsed by the account is restricted. The youth mode of some online course platforms also has a "time lock" function. The software use time is 40 minutes by default. If a single day use time exceeds the default time, you need to enter a functional independent password to use it.

A reporter from the Rule of Law Daily downloaded some popular software with a youth model to try. After setting the password for the youth mode, these platforms will require users to fill in the child's date of birth, and some platforms will also require users to fill in the gender. After setting up the account, the platform will provide some content categories for users to choose. Only after the selection can the software be officially used in the youth mode. There are also some platforms that do not need to set up a youth account, and directly set a password to control the opening of the youth mode.

However, a reporter from the "Rule of Law" found that only a separate password is required to turn on and off the youth mode. With the password, the holder of the mobile phone can still turn on or off the youth mode at will. Some parents believe that this makes the youth model virtually useless in the eyes of teenagers who have the password.

According to parents' introduction, a reporter from the Rule of Law Daily downloaded and installed a popular social software. In one of the software's settings, an independent password was set to turn on the youth mode of the software. Continuing the operation, the reporter of "Rule of Law" found that although it is impossible to carry out the same routine operations as ordinary accounts, the accounts set up in the youth mode of this software can still be used to vote on various lists and receive News or information not related to learning pushed by the platform.

Xiao Jia (pseudonym), a student from a middle school in Dongcheng District, Beijing, told a reporter from the Rule of Law Daily: “The youth model can indeed filter out some bad information, but for me, it is just for voting for'idols' (idols). ."

Downloading software by yourself, registering an account by yourself, setting and turning on the youth mode for yourself, this is Xiaojia, and it is also the normal network life of some minors who follow stars. A reporter from the Rule of Law Daily registered a youth account on the online course platform according to Xiao Jia's guidance. At the end of the interview, he received a news feed from the platform, "XX was exposed to derailment and private photos flowed out."

Online lesson browser pop-up advertisement

Language violence in interactive comment area

I often see pop-up advertisements when using a certain browser to go online in class. This is a problem encountered by Li Xuan (pseudonym), a middle school student in Xicheng District, Beijing.

During Li Xuan's online class, pop-up advertisements will pop up from the left side of the webpage from time to time, and the content of the advertisements is also quite "rich", not only game advertisements, but Li Xuan even saw germinal advertisements.

Li Xuan described the general scene of the game advertisement to the reporter of the Rule of Law Daily: "Either there are dragons and monsters on the stone brick road, or there are wild boars on the wasteland, and then a person holds a knife and cuts. After a few bursts, a lot of excellent game equipment was released."

Li Xuan feels a bit annoyed by such exaggerated advertisements that often pop up, but he can't completely prohibit the advertisement from popping up. To this end, he specifically changed to another browser without ads. But the new browser sometimes stuttered, and in the end, Li Xuan had to switch back to the original browser.

A reporter from "Rule of Law Daily" downloaded this browser software and found that after selecting the page of interest, the browser will push news and information according to the user's interest, but even if the "entertainment" option is avoided, the system will still push Some sensational "news" titles.

Zhao Yu (pseudonym), a student from a middle school in Xicheng District, Beijing, used an online course platform to conduct training courses. According to her introduction: "This online course platform can have a camera and microphone. The system will remind you when there is a class. The teacher can ask questions during the class. If the student answers correctly, the teacher can reward the student, give a small trophy or something. It is also very convenient to read documents, PPT, pictures, and the teacher’s blackboard. The blackboard can be saved as pictures. After the entire course is over, you can also watch the playback."

In addition, Zhao Yu told a reporter from the Rule of Law Daily that there are also some problems with the interactive messages on the school's online course platform. "There will be classmates talking nonsense in the comment area." Zhao Yu said, "For example, if the teacher asks a classmate to answer a question, and that student answers the wrong question, someone in the comment area will make jokes about the wrong answer."

This made Zhao Yu flustered when answering questions, because he was worried about the cynicism of his classmates. Sometimes even if he knew the answer, he didn't dare to answer easily. "Why does the online course platform have no mute function?" Zhao Yu was puzzled about this.

Gao Tiantian (a pseudonym) from an elementary school in Tongzhou District, Beijing saw the teacher advertise in a live class.

After school starts this fall, Gao Tiantian will enter the sixth grade. During this summer vacation, his parents enrolled Gao Tiantian for online courses at an educational institution. At 9 o’clock, Gao Tiantian’s math class started. The class lasts for about two hours with 3 breaks in between. During the break between classes, in order to increase the interest of the children, the teacher will hold his pet cat in front of the live camera. Interact with classmates and sometimes recommend other courses on sale to classmates.

"The teacher often recommends some courses." Gao Tiantian is no stranger to this. And her mother, Ms. Wang, is very disgusted with this. She told the reporter of the Rule of Law Daily: "The teacher’s job is to teach classes. I find it annoying to recommend other courses on sale in class. What is the difference between this and placement of advertisements? ?"
