When the mother came to pick up her child at the preschool last Thursday, the girl was standing by the fence and was completely unattended.

- It is inconceivable that something similar could happen, the mother tells Sundsvalls Tidning, who is the first to write about the incident.

The mother tells the newspaper that the girl came running towards her and was happy when she saw her mother. Shortly afterwards, she collided with an educator who was on his way home, who was completely unaware that the one-year-old was still there.

The staff is unwell

The incident has not only shaken the parents, it has also affected the preschool staff.

- We have had supportive conversations with the staff who feel very bad, says the preschool principal to SVT.

She says that they have tried to look back and map the course of events.

- It was a communication failure that made it happen. We will now ensure the quality of our routines and have had conversations with all staff.

"Deeply tragic"

According to the preschool's own survey, the child was alone for about five minutes, while the mother perceived that she had been alone for half an hour.

- But the time is insignificant, it is still deeply tragic, it just must not happen, says the preschool principal.

The one-year-old's family has made a report of what happened to the Swedish Schools Inspectorate.
