"We are obviously ready to provide all the necessary assistance to Alexeï Navalny, his relatives, in terms of health, asylum, protection", he added after an interview at Fort Brégançon, in south-eastern France, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

"The news that we have at this time is extremely worrying" and "we continue to follow the situation very closely", added the Head of State, warning: "We will be extremely vigilant on the consequences and the investigations which will be carried out ”.

For her part, Angela Merkel assured that Alexeï Navalny could receive "any medical aid" in France or Germany, "but of course the request must be made". "And what is also important is that we get to know urgently how we got to this situation", added the Chancellor who said she was "upset" by the fate of the Russian opponent. and called for “transparency”. The main Russian opponent Alexeï Navalny was placed on Thursday in intensive care in serious condition in a hospital in Siberia after having become unwell on a plane, his entourage crying of poisoning.

This Thursday evening, the NGO Cinema for Peace announced the dispatch of a medical plane from Germany to reach Russia with the objective of then repatriating the opponent to Berlin. "We will send at midnight an ambulance plane with medical equipment and specialists with which Navalny can be brought back to Germany", declared its president, Jaka Bizilj, specifying that he hoped to obtain the agreement of the various authorities “In the evening” of Thursday to carry out the whole operation.
