The state was condemned by the administrative court of Marseille for not fighting enough against motorcycle rodeos. This is a first for a procedure launched by a collective of residents of the 15th arrondissement, which obtained 10,000 euros in damages in compensation for this daily hell.

TESTIMONY

It is a phenomenon that disrupts the life of the neighborhoods: the incessant noise, especially at night, of wild rodeos at the foot of buildings or in residential areas. In Marseille, in the Verduron district, in the 15th arrondissement, a collective of residents has just obtained before the administrative court the condemnation of the State for its inaction in the face of this scourge.

10,000 euros in damages

The State (and in particular the prefecture of police of Bouches-du-Rhône) is found guilty of "fault" for not having taken sufficient measures to restore public peace. It was a group of residents of the 15th arrondissement of Marseille who had launched the procedure and therefore obtained 10,000 euros in damages.

"Daily life is an infernal noise, the equivalent of a dozen chainsaws. It affects a lot of people because it is a very dense district", testifies Nathalie, who created this collective of residents. "We have to shut ourselves in at home, we can no longer enjoy the outdoors if we have it, and then it gets on your nerves! When you come back from a day of work, you hear three hours of rodeo, it's not Not normal! People do not understand that we can reach this stage without doing anything ", indignant the resident of the neighborhood.

Police have "no manpower to deal with the problem"

This Marseillaise also regrets the lack of means of the police which remains according to her without moving in the face of this phenomenon. "When we call the police, we are answered once in two 'it is noted'; when we insist a little we say 'madam, we have other priorities', when we insist again, we are answered' listen if you are not happy, write to the Minister of the Interior, we have no car, no staff to solve this problem. ”This is not normal!” Deplores Nathalie. "We cannot, in a Republic, not provide an answer to citizens who suffer from an abnormal situation."
