Since the beginning of summer, the water level in the Nanchang section of the northern branch of the Ganjiang River has skyrocketed due to the continuous rainfall in the Ganjiang River Basin and the flooding of Poyang Lake.

At 11 o'clock on July 11, the heavy rain stopped at the beginning. On the embankment of 24 Lianwei, Xinjian District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, the officers and soldiers of a certain battalion in the Eastern Theater Air Force Command were divided into two routes-instructor Zeng Youping led the backbone of the party members to pave the river embankment In the anti-wave cloth, Jiang Xuhui, the instructor of a company, led other officers and men to dig ditches at the edge of the Lianwei. The officers and soldiers must rush to complete the defense and reinforcement task before the arrival of the flood peak.

"There is a bubble spring in the five-star polder section!" Jiang Xuhui, the nearest to the danger, led the officers and soldiers to the scene.

"Flood spews out from several hot springs with mud and sand. Many officers and soldiers have never seen such a big flood." Jiang Xuhui said.

"I'm good at water, I'll get off first!" Shan Liang, a sergeant who had just joined the party, immediately asked to fight. The backbone of the party members immediately jumped into the water and quickly built a wall of people near the spring.

The officers and soldiers carrying sandbags carried a woven bag of pebbles weighing more than 50 kilograms and ran back and forth in the muddy paddy field more than 200 meters long. After 6 hours of fierce battle, the officers and soldiers successfully blocked 4 springs.

At 5 o'clock on July 14, the Luzhou Ferry of Qianzhou Village, Lianwei Town, Nanchang City suddenly fell into danger, and officers and soldiers rushed to the front line.

A collapsed zone about 10 meters long and 3 meters wide appeared on the side of the Luzhou Ferry Dam. The cement road on the embankment was hollowed out by the flood, and the flood was wrapped in mud and gushing out rapidly. There is a nest under the levee, if it is not filled and sealed in time, it is very easy to form a breach.

After determining the plan, Jiang Xuhui was the first to jump into the waist-deep mud puddle. Mud and floods were mixed together, and it was extremely difficult for the officers and soldiers to move every step. They tried their best to form a wall of sandbags to block the flood.

"Your eczema is already very serious, and it is easy to cause infection when you enter the water." On July 16, when the military doctor made a review for Tu Chao after 00 Pvt., he once again issued a doctor's order.

"I can handle this little problem." Tu Chao joined the flood fighting team again after speaking.

Private Chen Yiwei has just turned 18 this year and is the youngest fighter in the battalion to fight floods. On July 14, after fighting for 6 hours to eliminate the danger of falling nest, Chen Yiwei applied for the task of blocking the spring. On this day, he fought vigorously for 14 hours on the dam.

"A new record is set!" On the way back to the camp area, Chen Yiwei excitedly reported to everyone his flood control report card.

On July 20, there was heavy rain, which lasted for more than ten hours. The dyke in the Lianzhuang Village section of the twenty-four Lianwei section in the newly built area is severely washed by rain and waves, and may collapse at any time. More than 50,000 people and more than 100,000 mu of fertile land in the vicinity are facing serious threats.

The laying of the dam wave cloth can effectively prevent the occurrence of landslide danger, but the laying task can only be completed by artificial launching. In addition, the bad weather and deep flooding have a great risk factor.

"It's raining too much, wait a minute." During the violent storm, the guide and surrounding people repeatedly stopped the officers and soldiers who were preparing to go into the water.

"Commando, go into the water with me!" After getting the commander's permission, the commandos quickly took safety precautions, and the third-level sergeant chief Xu Kangle led everyone into the flood.

"Sandbags are fixed at the bottom of the anti-wave cloth and buried in the water for compaction." Xu Kangle reminded everyone, while wading through the muddy water to the front of the team, splashing mud all over his body.

When placing stone bags under the water to fix the anti-wave cloth, Corporal Wang Anyi suddenly felt a sting in his palm. When he took out his right hand, he saw blood flowing from the wound. He gritted his teeth and continued to fight.

On the embankment, the loading and transportation team ran back and forth on the 60-meter-long embankment, continuously throwing stone bags to their comrades in the flood. Privates Zhang Jianing and Xiong Lechong ran on the muddy embankment with two stone bags on their shoulders at a time. The officers and soldiers worked together and fought continuously, and completed the laying of more than 200 meters of wave cloth in only 4 hours.

"In our battalion, there is no task that cannot be accomplished." On the embankment of the 24th Lianwei, flood fighting officers and soldiers excavated more than 1,200 seepage ditches and shipped more than 50,000 sandbags.

  This is a heroic force.

During the flood fighting in 1998, the unit of a certain battalion of the Air Force Command in the Eastern Theater Command was rated as "Advanced Unit for Flood Fighting and Rescue" by the original four headquarters, and was awarded the second-class collective merit.

In the midsummer 22 years later, in the face of raging floods, the battalion drew 50 officers and soldiers to form a flood-fighting assault detachment. They held the dam in the new district of Nanchang City for 25 days and nights. They performed emergency and dangerous missions 15 times and eliminated more than 20 places. Dangers such as hot springs, piping, and falling nests.
