Al-Marri told «Emirates Today» that he undertook the preparation of the genome associated with the Arab peoples, and this study represents a qualitative leap because it serves as a genetic map for the majority of the world's peoples, which would clarify genetic mutations and the development of genetic medicine, and develop appropriate drug formulations for each person according to his identity.
And whether the genetic mutations have a role in the severity or weakness of the complications of infection with the Coronavirus, in light of the suffering of certain countries more than others, Al-Marri explained that his genetic encyclopedia was actually used to determine the mutations of specific populations, pointing out that genetic factors play a certain role in the degree of complications of infection Coronavirus, and this is the reason people are affected by the disease more than others, and it causes the death of some, but not others.
Al-Marri explained that there are genetic mutations specific to each individual population, through which it is possible to identify the most prominent signs that distinguish it, the extent of its susceptibility to infection with specific diseases or viruses, as well as its immune capabilities and the most appropriate drugs for it, stressing that genomics is of great importance at the present time due to its association with medicine.
